ShootSmarterTV: who the heck are these guys?

ShootSmarter.com and ShootSmarterTV.com are the products of photographer and photo-educator Will Crockett. Starting as a commercial photographer in the early 1990's, Will started producing large and medium format transparencies of his client assignments with a new, clean fine-edged "pop" to them and began attracting some national attention. You probably have seen some of his images of celebs and business leaders in national ads and magazine covers. Will and his small staff gained notoriety in the photo industry when they figured out how to harness the new color technology in both Kodak’s and Fujifilm's "new breed" of films with precise control over color, color temperature of strobe gear, and exposure levels with an unusual ease.

Fujifilm showed their interest in Will's images using their Provia, Velvia and Astia trans films and next thing you know Will is on the speaking circuit across the USA to show photographers exactly how he was creating these fresh looking images for TIME, Boeing, Hewlett Packard, Northwest Airlines and many others with an open manner and unpretentious style.

As the internet gained prominence, Will began sharing his testing results, recent assignments, scans of production Polaroids, tips on how he used the gear, and the handouts from his seminars on his www.willcrockett.com website. As the site grew and the internet became a primary resource for photo-based info, Will created the shootsmarter.com website and DVD video series for professional photographers looking to get in control of light, color and exposure issues so they could focus on shooting pictures instead of the mounting complexity of the digital capture revolution. More writers were added to cover topics like PhotoShop and light control with Suzette Allen and Chris Grey joining the team to contribute their info each month.

Soon the website became populated with over 100,000 visitors each month and is a reliable source for quality minded professional photographers of all levels. Now the addition of ShootSmarterTV opens new doors to see video content from Will and others that “measures up” to the ShootSmarter standard, but now gives the photo industry a conduit to show new content never before possible like studio tours of well-known photographers and other touring seminars – all on the web.

More to come!
